I originally ordered the BT model 98 bipod, but returned it once I saw it. It was too short for the M4, and the exposed springs looked to me like they would be a failure point after rough use.The UTG bipod comes with the barest of manuals. It took me a little while to figure out how to fold and unfold the legs. There is a locking button on each leg. You have to push it down (that is, toward the ground), not in, to swing the leg out. The leg length is set by unscrewing the knurled section, which allows the lower part of the leg to slide up into the upper part. Once the length is properly set, tighten the knurled section firmly--the leg will stay set even if slammed down on the ground. Installed this on my AK-47 with an UTG Deluxe Tri-Rail Barrel Mount, and the weapon totally looks bad-a$$. I specifically got this bipod for the sled feet, as the AK has got a pretty good kick to it. The other bipod that they sell has rubber feet, which in my application felt wouldn't hold up as well as the sled feet considering the hard recoil. The bipod has the perfect clearance for a 30 round magazine, provided the Tri-Rail Barrel Mount is as close to the gas-port piston housing. I considered other bipods but for the money, this one is a winner. Over all it's not a bad bi-pod.PRO's -It's the perfect size for the 15-22 to rest without touching the magazine. -It's low profile design takes up very little space on the rail making it easy to mount a tac light, the bi pod, as well as a foregrip if you want to. Believe it or not there is still room to rest your hand easily on the quadrail if you prefer to shoot this way "as I do." Not many bipods allow you to mount 2 other accessories and still leave room for grip. -Great price. -Decently stable. It's not a $200 bi pod, but it's not by any means flimsy. Works great and is very stable with my 15-22 at the range. CON's -Soft metal leads to possible swift wear to the hinges and joints.
